Loi Krathong (Yi Peng) Lantern Festival

Shot at night using only available light (with a 20mm F/1.7 fixed lens), this video demonstrates the superb capabilities of the Panasonic GH2.

Loi Krathong coincides with the Lanna (northern Thai) festival known as “Yi Peng”. The festival is associated with making merit, though to be sure it is also fabulously, romantically photogenic, making for a shimmering crowd of camera wielding, flash popping locals and visitors.

To quote Wikipedia: A multitude of Lanna-style sky lanterns (khom loi, literally: “floating lanterns”) are launched into the air where they resemble large flocks of giant fluorescent jellyfish gracefully floating by through the sky.
